Business Challenge
Healthcare interactions are often spread across different providers and organizations, leaving a patient's health information and healthcare relationships scattered rather than connected. HealthPHR's founders wanted to build a technology platform that could contribute to healthcare digitization in the Indian market by placing the patient at the center of a connected digital healthcare ecosystem. The challenge for BAMS was to build a platform capable of supporting patients directly while connecting them with multiple types of healthcare participants — doctors, diagnostic laboratories, and pharmacies — through one centralized digital experience, each with its own distinct workflow.
Project Objective
BAMS was tasked with creating a patient-centric Personal Health Record ecosystem designed to digitize personal health information, give patients centralized access to their own health records through a patient portal, and connect patients with doctors, diagnostic laboratories, and pharmacies. The objective extended beyond a records repository — it included healthcare-service discovery, the administrative capabilities needed to run the platform, and a scalable foundation for the broader digital healthcare vision behind it.
What BAMS Built
BAMS designed and developed HealthPHR as a patient-centric healthcare technology platform, bringing together a Patient Portal, Personal Health Records, and connections to doctors, laboratories, and pharmacies within one digital ecosystem — not simply a healthcare information website. Patients can register, build a profile, and maintain their personal health records and medical history in one place. From their dashboard, patients can discover and connect with doctors, diagnostic laboratories, and pharmacies as healthcare-service participants on the platform. An administrative layer gives the HealthPHR team the tools to manage healthcare providers and platform content.
BAMS's Role
BAMS was responsible for the end-to-end development of HealthPHR — solution architecture, UX/UI, the React.js frontend, the PHP backend/application layer, the MySQL database, and AWS cloud infrastructure — including the patient portal, Personal Health Record functionality, doctor functionality, laboratory functionality, pharmacy functionality, administrative functionality, and deployment.
Implementation Approach
BAMS approached HealthPHR as a healthcare ecosystem platform with the patient at the center: Patient → Personal Health Record → Doctor → Laboratory → Pharmacy, with administrative functionality supporting the broader platform behind the scenes. Rather than a single static repository of records, the platform was designed to bring a patient's health information and their connections to healthcare-service participants together through one centralized digital experience.
